Avoid as much as possible coming to the clinic, stay at home - we’ll come to you.
So that we can continue to stay healthy, visit with our grandparents, work, study, travel, meet with friends and buy a cup of coffee at our favorite coffee shop - all that was once so obvious until March 2020, and now somewhat less so - we all need to follow the rules for a new routine.
Here’s everything that you need to know:
Most Important
- Put on a mask when you’re out in public. The mask needs to cover both your mouth and your nose.
- Keep at least two meters between you and others around you (aka social distancing) .
- Good hygiene is extremely important. Wash or sanitize your hands often.
What should you do if you fear you’ve been infected by the Coronavirus?
The simple answer is: Get yourself checked. However, according to Health Ministry guidelines, not everyone can be referred for testing.
Who can receive a referral?
- Anyone with symptoms who were in close contact with a verified patient (verified means someone who received a positive response to the presence of the Coronavirus).
- Anyone with symptoms of the illness, who came to a hospital seeking treatment.
- Anyone with symptoms in the community - at a physician’s discretion, and with an emphasis on adults 18 years and older.
- Family members of a verified patient, whether or not they are showing symptoms.
- Asymptomatic individuals who were in close contact with a verified patient in any of the institutional living frameworks (assisting living, critical care units, and any welfare framework constituting a home for life), or at school (in the same class, shared transportation, and in certain cases even the entire school).
- Anyone who resides, is hospitalized, or employed in an institution with a population at risk for Corona in an area in which there are known incidents.
- Anyone who is transferred to an institution, therapeutic framework, or home for the elderly.
- Anyone who is waiting for a transplant or undergoing hematology oncological treatments.
- Women before fertility treatments.
- All those segments of the population for whom the need for testing has been established.
- Any other case at the discretion of the treating physician
How can you get a referral?
- Make an appointment with your family doctor, pediatrician, or gynecologist - if possible, preferably a digital visit in the personal zone, or a phone call. On weekends you may call Meuhedet through the Emergency Call Center at *3833.
- The on-call physician will forward you a referral if you meet the criteria (as detailed above).
- The test is conducted at one of the Meuhedet testing stations dispersed throughout the country, or in one of the pop-up “Test & Drive” facilities organized by MDA every so often. If it not feasible or possible to come for testing, set an appointment, and we’ll test you at home.
If you’ve been exposed to a verified patient, it is necessary to remain in quarantine for 14 days from the day of exposure even if test results come back negative. If you were sent for testing because of a fever or cough without any exposure to a verified patient, and the test results are negative, please remain in quarantine for two days after the symptoms have passed.
How do you get your results?
The test’s results are conveyed by voice message or SMS and will appear in your personal zone on the website and in the app.
And if the result is positive?
If results come back positive, a doctor from Meuhedet will contact you to explain the significance of the results and organize treatment.
Recently, there have been outbreaks in schools. How is this being treated?
In cases where there are outbreaks, Meuhedet is responsible for testing and treating students and school staff, who are our customers. The Health Ministry provides us their contact information, and we’ll call to set up a test.
There’s nothing urgent about getting tested as guidelines call for testing between 4-7 days after exposure.
The students and staff need to enter into quarantine for the full 14-day period from the date of their exposure to a verified patient.
If a student or staff member tests positive - Meuhedet will also invite their family members for testing.
